About me

It all began with a breath. A breath of freedom, creation, and raw emotion.

I am Julia A. Etedi, of Franco-Hungarian origin, raised in a cocoon where love and creativity shaped every fiber of my being.

Paris was my playground, but it was in the stillness and movements of nature that I truly learned how to see, to feel. I have always questioned the role of the invisible in our tangible world, and this exploration—at the edge of the material and the immaterial—guides my artistic journey. The canvas is my realm of discovery. My painting is an attempt to capture those elusive movements, those invisible forces that shape not only the outer world but also our deepest emotions. Movement, to me, is a living trace, an imprint I strive to make tangible.

How can an emotion, as fleeting as it may be, be frozen into matter? This question haunts and fuels me. But painting is not just an act of creation—it’s an act of witness. As a woman, I deeply believe that it’s the voices of those who haven’t always been heard that can change the world. My art is a tribute to the women who labor in both shadow and light, tirelessly. Giving a voice to women, shedding light on their courage and determination, is my way of etching their stories into matter, making their struggles visible and eternal.

And then, there are the oceans. Vast, mysterious, yet so vulnerable. For me, they embody the perfect balance between the intangible and the real. Their silent power, their role in climate equilibrium, their wild beauty—all of it resonates with me. Water, like painting, holds endless potential.

Today, as we stand on the brink of the digital age—where artificial intelligence and virtual worlds are reshaping the boundaries of our reality—I ask: what space remains for the material? How can matter still nurture our senses, our feelings, in this dematerialized world? This is the dialogue between art and technology that I continue to explore, with an unwavering desire to stay grounded in the tangible, in what still vibrates beneath our fingertips.

My journey is a quest—a quest for meaning, for resonance between what I feel and what I create. And if you feel the pull to follow this path with me, perhaps we’ll meet along the way, in a piece of work, in a gaze, or in a movement suspended in the air.
